The York County Arts Council held its 32nd annual celebration Thursday at the Community Performance Center, 249 E. Main St. in Rock Hill.
The evening featured live music, local food vendors and a gallery crawl along Main Street.
"This has been a challenging year for all nonprofits," said the council's executive director, Debra Heintz. "Our board and staff do a wonderful job of providing quality arts experiences for the community. ... Our overall goal is to make York County a recognized arts destination in the region."
Before the celebration, the Arts Council announced new board members Paula Gillman, Michelle Hatchett, Chris Rhu, Will Thomason and Michelle Wilson.
New officers include Rick Jiran, president; Sandy Johnson, vice president; Andy Shene, secretary/treasurer and Barre Mitchell, immediate past president.
The council also announced several awards.
Caitlin Lovett was selected as the recipient of the Long Family Scholarship (funded by the Woman's Club of Rock Hill outreach funds), a scholarship open to York County students accepted to the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts. Mitchell was selected to receive the Ben Ardrey Volunteer Award, created in 1992 to recognize those individuals who have committed themselves to arts and culture.
Gallery Up was selected for the Business and the Arts Award, created in 1992 to recognize those businesses whose dedicated partnership with arts has been demonstrated during the calendar year.
