For those looking for any way to beat this oppressive heat, Gatorade recently introduced some new products you might find helpful.
The sport drink king now offers two new varieties: G Natural and G2 Natural, both touted as "natural" versions of regular Gatorade and the low-calorie G2.
Both will provide the same third-quenching and hydrating benefits as regular Gatorade, the company promises.
Here's a look at the new 16.9 oz drinks. Both have a suggested retail price of $1.49:
G Natural: Has 50 calories, 11 mg sodium and 30 mg potassium in an 8 oz serving.
Flavors: Blackberry Raspberry, Lemon Berry and Orange Citrus.
G2 Natural: Has 20 calories, 110 mg sodium and 30 mg potassium in an 8 oz serving.
Flavors: Berry, Citrus Mango and Orange Pomegranate.
They're available at Whole Foods stores in five regions across the country, including the Carolinas. Unfortunately, for anyone in York County, the closest Whole Foods location is in Greenville. So Gatorade fans might want to inquire about getting it in other stores.
Gatorade sent samples for me to review. I tried the Orange Citrus flavor of G Natural. It was refreshing enough, but the taste reminded me more of Hi-C than Gatorade. Still, it was tasty and I'm sure would do plenty to quench your thirst during these 90-plus-degree days. I doubt I'll make a habit of buying the new brand, though, as original orange Gatorade is, has and probably always will be my favorite flavor.
