Clowney watch

Published: January 17, 2011

South Point defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is expected to decide between USC and Alabama and announce his decision on Signing Day.

For a defensive lineman, Jadeveon Clowney knows how to find the end zone.

In his senior season, he scored five touchdowns on defense and scored nine touchdowns in spot duty as a running back.

He tallied 162 tackles, 29 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, 11 caused fumbles and six fumble recoveries on defense.

On offense, he added 20 carries for 274 yards.

At 6-foot-5, 235 pounds, Clowney has exceptional speed (4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash) and size.

South Pointe posted a 38-6 record in the three seasons Clowney played, including winning the 2008 state championship by beating Northwestern.
