Twitter poll: No support for Gabbert

Posted on April 6, 2011

Take this for what it's worth.

But when comparing apples to apples in our alarmingly unscientific twitter poll, it's clear there's a preference about which quarterback Panthers fans seem to want, even if there's some disagreement about him.

On Monday, we spent one hour from 11 a.m. until noon fielding replies on twitter (@daringantt) as to whether Panthers fans would approve of Auburn QB Cam Newton as the first pick in the draft.

Of the 154 responses, 90 of them (58.4 percent) were yes. Not a landslide, but a healthy 17-point swing.

Wednesday, we repeated the experiment with Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

The results were far more clear on this one.

Of the 148 votes, 121 were opposed to the idea (81.8 percent), a whopping 63-point swing.

We'll do another one soon on QB vs. non-QB rather than each individual non-QB (DT Marcell Dareus, CB Patrick Peterson and WR A.J. Green). Will be curious to see how those turn out. But it's obvious based on this ridiculously small sample size that there's something far short of a groundswell of support for Gabbert.
