Last month, Northwestern High School English instructor Patti Tate was crowned South Carolina's Teacher of the Year. On Tuesday, Rock Hill schools awarded a new round of standout educators.
Each of the district's schools this month named a teacher of the year to represent their campuses from July 1 through June 30, 2012. They were chosen by their colleagues, district spokeswoman Elaine Baker said.
After a selection process that will go into the summer, one teacher will be named as the District Teacher of the Year and two teachers will be named as Honor Roll teachers.
Tate, who was named Northwestern's top teacher this time last year, was one of five finalists for the state title. S.C. Superintendent of Education Mick Zais, standing beside Gov. Nikki Haley, gave her the award last month at a banquet at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
