ROCK HILL --
A Rock Hill man who set off courtroom metal detectors was later arrested for spitting on police, officials say.
Quancy McNeil, 25, of 721 S. Jones Ave. was was arrested Tuesday after he tried to enter the Rock Hill Municipal courtroom. McNeil set the metal detectors off and officers searched him, according to a Rock Hill Police report.
According to the report, McNeil complained that the search was too rough and left the courtroom lobby, cussing on his way out. A witness was in the lobby and "clearly heard the statement," the report states.
An officer followed McNeil out and asked, "You going to curse again?" The officer then told McNeil to place his hands behind his back, the report said.
While booking McNeil, the officer ordered him to stand and face a wall, but McNeil refused and instead walked around the booking area yelling, the report said. The officer tried to force McNeil to be still and when McNeil jerked away from police, the officer pushed McNeil against a cell and grabbed his neck. McNeil stopped resisting and the officer let go, the report said.
McNeil then spit on the officer's chest, the policeman struck him, and McNeil spit in the officers face, striking him in both eyes and his mouth, the report states.
Other police took control of McNeil and the officer washed his face and went to the Riverview Medical Center for treatment.
McNeil was charged with disorderly conduct and throwing bodily fluids on an officer.
