A woman was airlifted to a Columbia hospital Monday morning after she was injured on the job, Chester County officials say.
Capt. Lee Morrison with the Great Falls Fire Department said they responded around 8:30 a.m. to Morcon, Inc., a manufacturer of paper products, such as napkins and tissues, located on James Baker Boulevard.
According to officials, the worker's hair got caught in a shaft that was rotating in a machine.
Chester County EMS also responded, and the woman was airlifted to Richland Memorial Hospital, Morrison said. When crews arrived at the scene, the woman was "conscious and alert."
The plant remained open.
Officials would not provide additional details, including how long the woman had been with the company, her name or her age.
