A Fort Mill man allegedly fired a gun while he was drunk Wednesday, police say.

James Howe, 40, has been charged with using a firearm under the influence, according to police documents. He is in Moss Justice Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Early Wednesday morning deputies were called by a woman who said Howe came to her home and said he had been robbed by four teenagers, according to a York County Sheriff's Office report.

But when deputies went to Howe's address on Caroland Drive, he was sitting on the couch and said everything was OK. He also appeared intoxicated and had trouble walking.

A little later, another call came in saying Howe was shooting a gun at his home, the report states. When deputies arrived this time, Howe was on the floor and denied shooting a gun. However, deputies found a rifle and two spent casings at the back of the house.

Howe's blood alcohol level was .20, according to Datamaster. He was then arrested and charged.
