A 58-year-old Simpsonville man died after driving off a Lancaster County road Friday.
The man was driving a 2012 Nissan pickup truck west on New Hope Road at 8:40 p.m. Friday, about five miles south of Lancaster, when he drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, drove off the left side of the road and struck a stand of trees, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The man was not wearing his seatbelt, Elder said. He was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead about an hour after the accident.
Karla Knight Deese, Chief Deputy Coroner with the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office, said she will not release the man’s name until family has been notified.
