YORK — A Lancaster County man accused of sexually abusing a girl in 2010 turned himself into police Thursday, according to a York County Sheriffs Office report.
Arrit James Laney, 37, of Heather Springs was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct, according to the report.
The mother of the now 11-year-old girl contacted police on July 9 nearly two years after the assault took place, the report states.
Laney is accused of sexually assaulting the girl, then 9, in a bedroom of a home on Saluda Road in York County, the report states.
The girl told police that Laney took her into the room, locked the door and got on top of her while she was screaming.
Laney told the girl that if she told anyone about what happened, he would show people a video he took and hurt her and her brother, according to the report.
At the time of the assault the girl was staying with a relative for the weekend, the report states. When the mother picked her up, the girl began crying and told her what happened.
The report didnt state why there was a delay between the assault and the report.
Laneys bond was denied. He is in jail at the Moss Justice Detention Center.
