An accused burglar kicked a fellow inmate in the face and punched another inmate in the head while in a holding cell at Moss Justice Detention Center, according to a York County Sheriff's Office police report.

Michael Vashaun Brewer, 20, of York was jailed for trying to burglarize a home on South Spring Street in York on Thursday, according to an incident report.

Police responded to a woman’s call that Brewer was “attempting to gain entry” to her house, the report states. She told police she heard someone banging on the wall of her home and then she saw Brewer on her porch.

Three hours later, police found Brewer and arrested him, according to the report.

While an officer was transporting Brewer from a group holding cell to his own cell at the detention center, officers say Brewer kicked an inmate laying on the floor in the face.

He also punched another inmate in the head for “no apparent reason,” the report states.

Officers placed Brewer in a restraint chair so that he could not cause more harm.

Brewer received additional charges of assault and battery third-degree for attacking the inmates, according to the report.
