Thanks to Habitat for Humanity of York County, one more family will have a house to call a home before the holidays.

On Saturday, Habitat broke ground on its next home-building project, Home for the Holidays Build. The project will put a family in a home on Crawford Road by mid-December, said Tim Veeck, executive director.

Wells Fargo donated $35,000 to the project and will also send teams of volunteers to help build the home, Veeck said.

Other sponsors donating money and manpower are Transaxle Manufacturing of America and Advanced Mission Systems.

The home build is part of Habitat’s neighborhood revitalization initiative where the nonprofit focuses on a neighborhood, increasing impact in that area.

The Crawford Road home will be the third in York County built in 2012.

Habitat is also having a fundraiser for its next Women Build project in the Hunter Park subdivision in York, where women work together to build homes.

The “Tiaras and Toolboxes” fundraiser will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 25, at the New Brakefield at Riverwalk in Rock Hill.

Tickets are $40 and are available at the door, or in advance. Call 803-328-1728, ext. 4 or go to yorkcountyhabitat.org for details.
