Rock Hill jogger injured by cup thrown from car

Published: September 26, 2012

— A Rock Hill man suffered a possible concussion someone threw what witnesses say was a fast food soda cup in his face while he was jogging last week.

Around 6:30 p.m. Friday, police spoke with two witnesses, 53 and 26, who said they saw a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu with an N.C. state tag traveling past a man who was jogging on the sidewalk of Constitution Boulevard, according to a Rock Hill police report. The witnesses said a few young men were in the car and that a fast food soda cup flew from the car and hit the 28-year-old jogger in the face.

The jogger fell to the ground while the car sped away, the report states. When police arrived on scene, the man was inside an ambulance receiving treatment for a gash on his forehead. He also had blood on his clothes and hands.

The man said he didn't hit his head on the ground but believed the flying object caused his injuries, according to the report. Paramedics told police the man required stitches and he may have suffered a concussion. He was taken to Piedmont Medical Center.

Police were unable to find the car.
