$2,000 in coins stolen from Rock Hill man’s garage

Published: October 4, 2012

— A Rock Hill man told police that someone went into his garage and stole $20,000 worth of various coins.

The 69-year-old man said he placed the coins in his garage around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, securing them in a plastic tub and several showcase folders with red and white stripes, according to a Rock Hill police report.

He said his wife returned home 15 minutes later and said the garage door was open. The man could not remember if he closed the garage door or not, the report states. He was able to give police the serial numbers for the coins and currency that he had on file.
