Walk-in absentee voting begins today in York County

Voters planning to vote absentee can do so in-person starting today at York County's two elections offices.

Eligible absentee voters must meet one of 17 criteria, which include being 65 years or older, having a disability, being out of town or working on Election Day, tending to an ill or disabled person, and emergency circumstances.

The county's Registration and Elections office has two locations. The York office is located at 13 S. Congress St. at the corner of Jefferson St. The Rock Hill office is located at 529 S. Cherry Road in Rock Hill southwest of Main and Calhoun streets. The Cherry Road office shares a building with the York County Magistrate's office. Entry is around back.

Voters have until the day before Election Day to vote absentee in person. Applications are available on site for walk-in absentee voters.

Anyone wishing to vote absentee by mail can request to do so by calling 803-684-1242 or 803-909-7194. Requests also can be made by email at elections@yorkcountygov.com or by faxing a request to 803-684-7801.
