At the fourth annual Paws in the Park gathering on Saturday, dog owners and their loyal companions can mingle and take part in activities while local businesses catering to pet owners meet their target market.
Dog owners “get to talk to the different vendors and see what they offer,” said Ansley Brown, a leisure programmer with Rock Hill’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism department.
Last year, some “200 people participants” showed up with 75 to 100 dogs, Brown said.
Several activities are planned this year, including a scavenger hunt and contests to crown the most beautiful and handsome pooches.
There also will be presentations on K-9 police dogs, “pet grief support” and pet nutrition.
The event is aimed at dog lovers, Brown said, but brave cat owners are welcome.
