INDIAN LAND — Pageland Central could not go through the Indian Land Warriors Friday night at The Reservation, so they decided to go over them.
The Warriors made a valiant goal-line stand on the Eagles first possession of the game by stopping them on four straight tries from the one-yard-line. Freshman defensive back Chris Blakeney made the final stop of Ryheem Lockhart on fourth down to give Indian Land the ball.
However, Eagles usually attack their prey from the air, and that is exactly what Pageland Central did from that point on as they scored on five touchdown passes to defeat the Warriors 39-7 on senior night.
Senior Debias Tyson tossed four touchdown passes to three different receivers in the first half to build a 31-0 halftime lead, and backup quarterback Joseph Rollings even got in on the act with a touchdown pass of his own in the fourth quarter. Tyson was 5-for-7 for 243 yards and the four touchdowns before the break. Senior wideout Kelton Myers caught the first two scores of 32 and 54 yards, respectively.
The Warriors were unable to get anything going on the ground as they totaled zero yards on 30 carries for the game. They had 17 carries for minus-17 yards at the half. Indian Land did make a couple of big defensive stops and scored off of one of them. Kentavis Vinson recovered a Deuntay Robinson fumble as the Eagles were driving at the Warriors 33 in the third quarter. Dylan Deese stripped Markee Melton of the ball inside the Eagles 5 and took it in to put Indian Land on the board with 5:15 left in the game. Sophomore punter Shea Rogers was called on often to try to flip field position for the Warriors and responded with a 39-yard average on six punts.
