HICKORY GROVE — A Hickory Grove woman told police she thinks someone shot and killed her pregnant alpaca while they were deer hunting.
Deputies met with the 58-year-old woman, who said her alpaca – a mammal that resembles a small llama – was in her pasture beside a fence that adjoins property belonging to the Worth Mountain Game Management, a public hunting ground managed by the state Department of Natural Resources.
She thinks the alpaca was hit by a round meant for a deer, the report states. The alpaca had been shot in the shoulder.
Because the animal was pregnant, it was worth $10,000, the woman told police.
