ROCK HILL — A 19-year-old Walmart employee was arrested Wednesday and is accused of stealing gift cards from the Dave Lyle Boulevard store in Rock Hill.
Police say the cashier stole $163 worth of gift cards by activating cards for customers then swapping the purchased cards with an inactivated gift card with no monetary value. This was captured on surveillance video on at least four different dates, according to a Rock Hill police report.
On Oct. 20, police say the employee used a stolen $25 gift card to purchase a $10 pre-paid phone card in the same Walmart store.
During the arrest Wednesday, police say they recovered a $50 gift card in the employee’s pocket that she had stolen two days before.
Yasmin Danielle Nichols, 19, of Rock Hill, was arrested Wednesday and charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, the report states.
