NEWBERRY — Tysheen Nance led a balanced Newberry offensive attack as the Bulldogs opened the Class AA Division I playoffs Friday night with a resounding 42-13 win against the Indian Land Warriors.
Nance carried the ball nine times for 101 yards and scored three touchdowns. As a team, the Bulldogs had 163 yards on 39 carries.
Newberry also got a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Khalil Sheppard. He connected twice to Jalin Alexander. Jose Lozano kicked six extra points.
Indian Land got its first touchdown on a 1-yard run from Dalton McGuirt to cut the lead to 21-6 during the second quarter. Newberry answered with 21 points.
Indian Land’s final touchdown came on an 8-yard run by Austin Gordon. Shea Rodgers kicked the extra point.
The Bulldogs (8-3) will play at Columbia next week. The loss ended Indian Land’s season at 1-10.
