ROCK HILL — A married Rock Hill couple’s disagreement over loud music ended with the wife threatening her husband with a kitchen knife, police say.
Police arrested the 43-year-old woman Monday after her husband said she assaulted him when he asked her to turn the radio down in their master bedroom, a Rock Hill police report shows.
The man, 45, said he and his wife, who he says was drinking, argued about the radio’s volume for several minutes before he turned it off himself to quell the noise, the report states. As he was leaving the bedroom, he said his wife grabbed his shirt and started slapping him.
He retreated to the kitchen, where his wife followed him, picked up a kitchen knife and threatened to hurt him, the report states. The man went into the bedroom and barricaded himself inside.
The wife gave police a different version of the story, saying she and her husband were both drinking when he began to “act crazy.” She said she went into the bedroom and barricaded the door to get away from him. She denied hitting her husband and arguing about music.
Officers could see injuries on the man and placed the woman under arrest. The husband declined assistance from paramedics and said he didn’t want to take photographs or write a statement.
