Report: Burglar threw rock through window at Lake Wylie library

Published: November 21, 2012

— Police followed a trail of blood and oil after someone apparently broke into the Lake Wylie Public Library Monday, flinging a rock through a back window and rifling through drawers.

Deputies responded to an alarm call at 185 Blucher Circle and found that a window and its frame were damaged, according to a York County Sheriff’s report. Officers found a metal bar on the scene and determined that someone used it to try and pry the metal bars on the window.

When the suspect couldn’t get through the window, they threw a rock through the back window, went inside the building and opened two drawers at the front register, the report states. Deputies found blood in the building and inside a drawer.

No money was taken.

A K9 unit followed a scent through the woods, eventually ending at the intersection of Brookview Drive and Blucher Circle. They found a wet spot on the ground they say may have been oil spots from the suspect’s car.
