A pair of little girls, Lila Belle, age 3, and Scarlet, age 5, might be heartbroken for Christmas after their pet goat and three sheep were stolen Friday from a stockyard that straddles the York and Chester County lines.
A stockyard worker noticed a section of fence cut and the three sheep and the goat named “Pet” gone, according to a Chester County Sheriff’s office police report. The animals belonging to Phil and Nova Grant who run the stockyard are valued at $360, but the money isn’t what will cause sorrow for the Grant’s little daughters.
“One of the sheep was pregnant and ready to have twins - kids they are called - any day,” Nova Grant said. “Pet, the goat, the girls put a tu-tu on her.”
Two of the sheep are white and the other is a reddish color: Pet the goat is reddish-brown: Rust.
The little girls have not been told yet, and her parents are hoping for a Christmas miracle.
