Shots fired outside Empire Pizza in Rock Hill

Published: December 24, 2012

— Shots were reportedly fired outside Empire Pizza in Rock Hill late Sunday after an allegedly drunk man was kicked out of the bar.

Officers were dispatched to the Empire Pizza restaurant 4811 Old York Road around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. There, they encountered an employee who said an intoxicated 22-year-old man began acting disorderly while using profanity and drinking directly from a bottle of Crown Royal whisky, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The employee ordered the man to leave. The man complied, but yelled profanities at patrons as he walked into the parking lot alongside a woman, the report states. The employee said the man and woman had been arguing minutes before they got into a red Jeep and drove away from the restaurant.

The employee said he heard four gunshots come from the Jeep’s direction of travel, but he didn’t see a weapon. Rock Hill Police and deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office went to a Mathis Street home for a welfare check. No one was at the home, but police spoke with one of the people involved who denied any problems at the restaurant.

Charges weren’t filed.
