Deputies cite 3 for underage drinking at Fort Mill motel

Published: December 25, 2012

— The sounds of girls giggling and glass bottles clinking led deputies to three underage teens drinking alcohol in a Fort Mill motel room last week.

Last Thursday, deputies patrolling at the Motel 6 on 3541 Foothills Way walked down the second floor hallway and heard young women talking about alcohol and clinking glass bottles together, according to a York County Sheriff’s report. Once learning that the room had been rented to 18-year-old Stephanie Navas of Charlotte, they knocked on the door.

Navas allowed deputies inside, where officials saw an empty glass bottle of liquor on the nightstand, the report states. Navas initially told police she was 21. She changed her story when deputies asked for ID, admitting that she was underage and saying that she and two other girls, both 16, were drinking Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

The other girls, who stayed inside the bathroom, showed deputies that they hid two bottles in the bathtub, the report states. Police found another bottle of liquor in the bottom section of the nightstand. Navas and the other two girls were cited for minors in possession of beer.
