Eight entered for Jerome Stakes

New York's first Kentucky Derby prep race of 2013 goes off on Saturday. Eight 3-year-olds have been entered for the 1-mile, 70-yard $200,000 Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct.

Shipping north from Maryland is Amerigo Vespucci trained by Timothy Tullock Jr. The colt will start from post four with Erick Rodriguez in the saddle.

Owned by Aldie Germania Farms, Amerigo Vespucci has four starts, all at Laurel Park. He won his first two races and finished second the last two - both stakes. The colt has earned $84,460.

Leading trainer Todd Pletcher has entered the experienced runner Notacatbutallama. The colt, a veteran of seven starts, will be ridden by Ramon Dominguez from post five.

Notacatbutallama has won three races with another three as runner-up. Racing on the turf, he was fourth in the With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga and second in the Pilgrim at Belmont Park. Remaining at Belmont, the colt won the Incurable Optimist Stakes followed by a win in the Super Mario at Aqueduct. Notacatbutallama is coming off a second in the Damon Runyan Stakes on a sloppy track at Aqueduct on Dec. 9.

Owned by Mike Repole, Notacatbutallama has banked $207,000 in his seven starts.

Here is the field for the Jerome in post position order: Siete de Oros, Angel Arroyo; Vyjack, Cornelia Velasquez; Long River, Irad Ortiz Jr.; Amerigo Vespucci, Erick Rodriguez, Notacatbutallama, Ramon Dominguez; Mudflats, Junior Alvarado; Vegas No Show, Paco Lopez and James Jingle, Eddie Castro.

Post-time for the Jerome is scheduled for 3:48 p.m. (ET).
