FORT MILL — The SC Strawberry Festival in Fort Mill was recognized as South Carolinas Event of the Year for the second straight year and won Best Non-Print Media during the annual South Carolina Festival and Event Planners Conference and Trade Show, held Monday in North Charleston.
It is outstanding to be recognized, said Mayor Danny Funderburk in a press release. The South Carolina Strawberry Festival is an event that keeps bringing home gold because of its ongoing quality."
Funderburk attributed the recognition to the "individuals and committee who work so hard on the festival each year.
Wink Rea, 2013 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Chair, said the awards are representative of the total commitment of the mayor, council, town staff, festival committee and volunteers.
Its an honor for the Strawberry Festival to be recognized by our peers and industry experts as South Carolinas Event of the Year for the second consecutive year, said Joe Cronin, assistant town manager and 2012 Marketing Team Leader.
Cronin said the town has set a "high standard" for the event.
"We look forward to building on this success in 2013 and beyond, Cronin said.
