Regarding the story, “Poorest left out in S.C. health plans”: I have a problem agreeing with the Democrats wanting the state to sign up for this new Medicaid program with the federal government.
Even our liberal Supreme Court said parts of the Obamacare program were unconstitutional. Now the Democrats want the state to go into debt to make their plan work.
I say debt because with our declining economy and inflation, how will we – that is me and you – be able to come up with $1.1 billion to pay our part. The $1.1 billion the state would need is about 20 percent of the general fund budget. To collect that much in a year we would need to increase our income tax 20 percent and sales tax by 20 percent.
My numbers are probably wrong since the people proposing the program have not given us much concrete information.
A friend told me they are looking for a new doctor. Their doctor is retiring rather than practice socialized medicine where the government tells him how to treat his patients.
