ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill woman told police her estranged common law husband destroyed the inside of her home, then blamed the damage on her dog.

The 29-year-old woman told police she was away from home on Wednesday when she got a call from her husband, who told her that their family dog had destroyed a TV, a sofa and a bed in her home, according to a Rock Hill police report. A total of $1,700 damage was reported.

The woman told police that her dog stays outside and could only have gotten in if her husband, from whom she has been separated for several years, had let it in. She told police her husband has never lived at the home with her and their daughter, and she didn’t know how he got in.

The husband told the woman he would pay for the damage, the report states. No charges were filed.
