A Tractor Supply store manager followed a man who tried to steal from his store on Thursday, eventually helping Rock Hill police find the accused shoplifter.
The store manager confronted the man inside the Tractor Supply and kept him from stealing a $350 pump, according to a Rock Hill police report. He then followed the would-be shoplifter as he fled in a car toward Interstate 77, the report states.
Police tracked the man down in a car with two other people.
When officers approached the vehicle, they saw a woman trying to stuff something into the seat.
After searching the vehicle, police found 24 Xanax pills and 1.5 Vicodin. The woman did not have a prescription for the pills and claimed they belonged to a friend, according to the report. Angela Gail Marlowe, 48, of High Point, N.C., was arrested on drug charges.
Police also found a receipt under the seat from a Monroe, N.C. store that included the same pump the man was trying to steal from Tractor Supply Co., the report states. The man, Ricky Lee Royall, 58, of Archdale, N.C., was arrested, and the vehicle was released to the other occupant.
