Normandy Invasion gearing up for Risen Star Stakes

Published: February 5, 2013

Highly regarded 3-year-old colt Normandy Invasion is quickly approaching his 2013 debut race. The Fox Hill Farms colt will start in the Risen Star Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course on Feb. 23.

Trained by Chad Brown, Normandy Invasion had a five-furlong workout Sunday at Palm Meadows Training Center. The 3-year-old went the distance in 1:01.23 the fifth fastest of 24 working five-furlongs.

"Normandy will have two more works before shipping to New Orleans to train over that track for several days prior to The Risen Star," said owner Rick Porter.

Ridden by Jose Lezcano, Normandy Invasion lost by a nose to 3-2 favorite Overanalyze in the Remsen Stakes as the 7-2 third pick on Nov. 24 at Aqueduct. The colt finished fifth in his debut at Belmont Park on Sept. 15 but came back to win at Aqueduct on Nov. 2. In his three starts he has earned $92,240.
