Government would confiscate our guns

Published: February 6, 2013

In response to the column “Gun nuts misunderstand meaning of Constitution”: The first statement about how it’s a good thing that the government doesn’t take gun owners any more seriously than Diane Rudolph does is absolutely wrong. The government does take gun owners very seriously. The current administration, if left unchecked, would have already had us register our guns and started confiscating them.

Her father’s 37 years of serving this country is both admired and appreciated. He swore an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. My father, brothers and I did the same.

The president of the United States swears a similar oath. I imagine that Ms. Rudolph’s father would be a strong supporter of not having our own government trample on our Second Amendment right to own guns. After all, he spent 37 years defending that right.

I know a lot of gun owners who own a lot of different types of guns. Some use their guns for protection. Some are used for hunting. Some are used for competition; some have AR 15’s for any number of reasons.

I don’t personally know a single person who has ever used his guns to commit a crime, shoot a person or advocate overthrowing the government. However, if the government tries to take those guns, I expect there will be a lot of opposition by the people I know and many others in this country.

In her free time, before her next letter to The Herald, Ms. Rudolph should do a little research. Look up “Communist Goals for America.” Also look up “America will fall without a shot being fired. It will fall from within.” In the early years of the Cold War this quote was made by Nikita Khrushchev in a speech before the U.N. Also look up “Gun Control and Genocide.”

Ottoman Turkey disarmed its citizens and murdered 1 million to 1.5 million Armenians. The Soviet Union disarmed its citizens and killed 20 million citizens. Nazi Germany and Occupied Europe disarmed their citizens and murdered 13 million. China disarmed its citizens and murdered 20 million, Guatemala disarmed its citizens and murdered 100,000 Mayan Indians. Uganda disarmed its citizens and murdered 300,000 Christians and political rivals. Cambodia disarmed its citizens and murdered 1 million educated people.

A government that will allow 54 million babies to be torn out of women’s wombs, using a hook, tearing off arms, legs and heads, or suck the brains out of babies when all but the baby’s head is out of the birth canal, and call it a woman’s right to choose to get votes to keep them in power is capable of anything.

Then the Hypocrite in Chief stands up and gives a speech televised around the world, uses the terrible tragedy of some deranged individual killing 26 people, mostly children, with guns as a reason to take away everyone else’s Second Amendment right. That government is capable of the next step after we have been disarmed.

So, Ms. Rudolph, call us traitors, stupid, idiots, nitwits, gullible or whatever you choose. You will be glad that we are all of those things when our government, not the citizenry of this great country, meets all of the Communist goals for America. You can decide now which of the goals have already been met.
