2 locals among finalists for Tega Cay city manager

Published: February 11, 2013

— Tega Cay’s city manager search is down to four finalists, including two with local ties.

The city sent out the four names Monday to residents who signed up with the city for email alerts on Tega Cay happenings. Finalists are David “Andy” Blondeau of Liberty, Joe Cronin of Fort Mill, Charlie Funderburk of Rock Hill and Jeffery Molinari of Goose Creek.

Mayor George Sheppard confirmed those finalists early Monday afternoon.

“All four of them have what it takes,” he said. “All four of them have what we’re looking for to grow the city.”

Both Cronin and Funderburk already work in the area. Cronin is the assistant town manager and planning director for Fort Mill and Funderburk is the operations director and current interim town manager in Tega Cay.

Both Cronin and Molinari had applied for the Fort Mill Town Manager job that was recently offered to Dennis Pieper, who resigned as Tega Cay city manager to accept it.

Council hopes to pick one of the four soon.

“We’re still looking to have someone in there by the end of February, beginning of March,” Sheppard said Monday.
