In response to Terry Plumb’s Sunday column: I am wondering how he has kept his job at The Herald as long as he has. Both sides of the politicians of South Carolina are failing at their jobs. They continue to look out for themselves and think about the voters and taxpayers only at election time! Now our state elected politicians want to spend less time in Columbia for the same amount of money.
I, myself, think it’s a shame there are so few jobs for so many people to fight for. Maybe if there were still some textile jobs in the state, we wouldn’t be worried about unemployment work centers closing. But back in the days of the Clinton administration both parties shipped our industry jobs out of USA and put us in debt to China for the rest of our lives.
You should also know that this is not the end of hard times but only the beginning. More cuts will be coming down the road if we fail to bring more jobs back. It seems that everyone at The Herald is for more taxes to homeowners and car owners. But with foreclosures going up, that’s a dead end too. Having to drive further, an added gas tax is not the answer either. We already know what the problems are. We need solutions.
Where does our government get the money for Medicaid? From us, the taxpayers!
Until those full-time politicians realize NAFTA was a mistake and bring industry back to America, things will not get better for any of us in the USA. Wake up and see what’s really going on in South Carolina. Both parties have contributed to this. They both need to fix it!
