ROCK HILL — Clinton Junior College will wrap up its Homecoming week Saturday with a parade from the City Hall area to the south Rock Hill campus.
Anna Grier Barringer, 95, a 1941 graduate of Clinton Junior College, will serve as the parades grand marshal.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. near East Black and Hampton Street. Visitors can park in the City Hall parking lot on Johnston Street.
Parade participants will use Hampton Street, Pond Street and Crawford Road as their route, ending at Clinton Junior College.
Clinton Junior College was founded in 1894 by the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church during Reconstruction to help eradicate illiteracy among freedmen.
The college is Rock Hills oldest higher education institution.
Some downtown roads on the parade route will be temporarily closed between 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The college is requesting that residents along Hampton Street use their driveways instead of street parking during the parade.
