FORT MILL — Mark and Cindy Slafka often spend weekend mornings watching episodes of Ask This Old House. Having an episode of one of their favorite television shows filmed at their own home was something could hardly dream of.
But early Thursday morning, the home improvement television shows production trucks rolled into their driveway and the couple welcomed Richard Tretheway, the shows plumbing and heating expert, into their homes.
Cindy Slafka sent an email to show producers more than a year ago via the shows website, explaining that they had recently built a home in Baxter Village but hadnt had builders install a home humidifier. Slafka wondered if Ask This Old House would be interested in taking on the project. The Slafkas have three children. In the winter, their home dries out and the kids have dry skin and chapped lips, Cindy Slafka said.
We just want to be more comfortable, she said.
She didnt receive an immediate response and put the installation of the humidifier on the familys to do list.
A few weeks ago, they received the call that Ask This Old House would be filming in the Charlotte area and would like to help solve the Slafka familys problem.
They said its a problem theyd never addressed before, Cindy Slafka said.
