Attempted robbery of copper knocks out power in Clover

Published: February 23, 2013

The latest attempted robbery of copper in an ongoing rash of metal thefts knocked out power temporarily in Clover this week.

Electricity substation employees and deputies found seven cut cables at a plant on Green Pond Road Wednesday night, then found a bottle of Hennessy cognac and a discarded cigarette nearby.

Police canine teams tracked to a home in Clover but no arrests were made.

In recent months police agencies in York County have reported dozens of copper thefts with an apparent motive to sell the metal.
