Regarding the recent “To the contrary” by Barrett Maners: One can only hope that Mr. Maners would see the light of the present administration of the dumbing down of America and praise former Sen. Jim DeMint for his conservative thoughts and deeds to return this country to its roots and its Constitution. Hopefully, from Mr. Demint’s position at the Heritage Foundation he can do more for that endeavor.
One can only see in the title of Mr. Maners’ book, “Stopping Radicalism,” that surely he is talking about the liberal left-wing progressive party. I guess Mr. Maners would love to see dumbing down of our schools so that everyone is taught that the government will take care of you, when in fact what we need is school choice (including faith-based schools) so that parents have some control over what their children are taught.
The liberal left-wing party has removed all prayer and the posting of the Ten Commandments from our schools and buildings, and look what it has gotten us: a country that has diminishing values and is not being taught the Godly principle of right and wrong. Instead of holding teachers responsible for the discipline of children in school, we ought to find a way to hold the parents responsible. Oh, that’s right, it’s “parent” these days and in too many cases a grandparent.
Maybe Mr. Maner’s letter to the contrary is all about selling his book. I would invite him to read Sen. DeMint’s book “The Great American Awakening” for a better understanding of his thinking.
