CHESTER — Police have charged a Chester teenager they say shot into a car carrying two women, a teenager and a child sometime Tuesday night.
Authorities say a woman was driving her black Lincoln down Oak Street when Dewayne Rashaad Worthy, 17, shot at the car four times, according to the Chester Police Department.
Three passengers were in the car two juveniles, ages 6 and 16, and another woman whose age was not available. One of the juveniles in the car is the son of the driver, Tobias said.
Initially, the driver didn't realize what happened, although she heard noise, said Keisha Tobias, spokeswoman for the Chester Police Department. Witnesses told her that the boy shot at her car and called police to report the gunfire.
Police searched for Worthy overnight Tuesday and throughout the day Wednesday until he was captured Wednesday night, Tobias said.
Tobias said Worthy had no previous violent incidents with the police department. She did say officials had worked with him and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Chester Police Chief Andre' Williams credited the York County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit and the Chester County Sheriff's Office for assisting in Worthys capture.
