Stereos stolen from cars at Rock Hill detail shop

Published: March 7, 2013

— Two men reported to police that someone stole stereos out of their cars Tuesday night after they parked their vehicles at Five Star Customs in Rock Hill.

Police on Wednesday spoke with a 33-year-old man who said a $350 video-display stereo had been taken out of his 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo while it was at the detail shop on Cherry Road, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

The car’s driver’s side door lock had been punched out and there were several wires hanging near the center of the dashboard where the stereo should have been, the report states.

Another car, a 1963 Cadillac, had also been broken into and its $50 stereo stolen, according to another Rock Hill Police report. The car’s owner, also 33, said he parked the car in the front parking lot of Five Star Customs when he closed the store for the day.

Like the Monte Carlo, wires hanged from the Cadillac’s dashboard.

No fingerprints were found on either car.
