Could it be spring is ready to make its’ presence known? Hard to know for sure, but one good portent lies in the fact that we make the switch to Daylight Savings Time this weekend.

Some electronics will automatically change, while other time keepers will need a little help. Remember that time springs forward one hour Sunday morning. You don’t want to be a late arrival for all the cool live music events, especially the Red Shoes for Rock Memorial honoring Jack Nims this Sunday at VFW Post 2889 on West Main Street in Rock Hill (related story on D1).

Also Sunday, Coheed and Cambria converge on Charlotte at The Fillmore with their imaginative mix of progressive rock and punk/pop/metal. Led by influences from Led Zeppelin, Queen, Rush, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, and Star Wars, Claudio Sanchez and company weave together a spectacular science-fiction saga. Russian Circles are opening for Coheed and Cambria. Check coheedandcambria.com for more.

But, tonight before the DST shift, rock with LA Guns at Amos’ Southend in Charlotte. Let your rockin’ heavy metal glee go free with a glam slam of ’80s Hollywood abandon. Join this incarnation – Phil Lewis, vocals; Steve Riley, drums; Michael Grant, guitar and Scotty Griffin, bass – for some “Rip and Tear” rock from LA Guns live tonight at Amos’ Southend, Charlotte.

That should whet your live music appetite. Check the listing for more favorites on the menu for the coming week.
