— A Chester County man accused of stealing makeup from a Rock Hill Target on Sunday ripped tile from the city jail floor and shredded a mattress while incarcerated, police say.

Adam Ross Cooper, 22, of 1876 Westbrook Drive in Edgemoor, was arrested around 3 p.m. Saturday when a loss prevention manager at the Target at the Manchester Village Shopping Center said he stole more than $40 worth of makeup products from the store, according to a Rock Hill Police report.

Cooper was charged with shoplifting and taken to jail, where jail staff said he ripped a piece of tile from the floor and used it to shred the mattress he was lying on, another report states. He caused at least $100 in damage.

An additional warrant was issued for damaging city property.
