Winthrop throws athlete Mark Britton was selected the Big South Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Monday for his record-setting discus performance last week in Charleston, S.C.

Britton, a sophomore from Pennsboro, WVa., captured first place in the discus event at the Palmetto Classic. His throw of 166-feet, 11-inches set the meet and facility records in the event. He is currently ranked No. 1 on the Big South Performance list and is No. 9 nationally.
