Wilmore

— A York man was arrested on drug and animal cruelty charges Thursday after a neighbor called police about a dog fight.

After receiving the tip, police searched a wooded area between Westwood Drive and the Hwy. 321 bypass and found several emaciated dogs and another that "appeared to have been dead for several days," according to a York Police report.

Police determined the animals belonged to Monterius Jamaal Wilmore, 20, who was standing nearby. While searching Wilmore for weapons, police found packed marijuana in his pants, the report states. They also found a box cutter in his pocket.

Wilmore was cited with four counts of maltreatment of animals. He was also charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute near a school.

He is booked at the Moss Justice Center on a $20,000 bond.

Animal Control seized three dogs and a body of the fourth.
