ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill man is behind bars after police say he assaulted another man early Wednesday with a large stick because he wanted a girl’s attention.
Christopher Allen Hubbard, 48, is charged with second-degree assault and battery, according to a Rock Hill Police report. He has been transported to the York County Detention Center, but his booking information wasn’t immediately available.
Around 4 a.m., police were called to a Manchester Street home when a 38-year-old man said Hubbard hit him with a stick that he grabbed out of the front yard, the police report states. The man said Hubbard was upset because a “girl” had been paying attention to him and not Hubbard.
While sleeping on the couch, the man said Hubbard began beating him with a 3-foot long “solid wood” stick, according to officers.
Hubbard, the report states, hit the man several times in the head, as well on his back and right forearm. The man fled from the home.
Hubbard, who the report states appeared intoxicated, refused to answer police officer’s questions.
