High school sports roundup: Northwestern blanks South Pointe in baseball

Senior Cameron Norwood pitched a two-hitter over six innings and Northwestern collected 11 hits to rout the South Pointe Stallions, 9-0, in a Region 3-AAAA contest Tuesday night.

The Trojans got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the first by scoring three times. Back-to-back doubles by Heath Sumwalt and Josh Crump produced the first run and Jonathan Smith capped the three-run outburst with a two-run single.

Rock Hill 21, York 1: The Bearcats got 12 hits and routed the Cougars 21-1 in a Region 3-AAAA game.

Rock Hill scored 14 runs in the third to break the game open. Macey Brazzell struck out nine in picking up the win.

Deandra Ealey led the attack with a pair of hits. She also drove in three runs. Autumn Jordan followed with two hits and a pair of runs batted in for the night.

Madison Vinson pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits in picking up her seventh win of the campaign.
