Burglar steals cash box from Fort Mill car wash

— The owner of a Fort Mill car wash reported to police this week that someone broke into his business, pried open the cash box and got away with more than $200.

At 8 a.m. Monday, deputies were called to the Tega Cay Wash & Lube on S.C. 160 after the owner reported that someone went inside of the business, damaged his “car wash payment machine” and stole between $200 and $300 in cash, according to a York County Sheriff’s report.

Police say it appears the burglar used a prying device or a type of cutting tool to get inside the box, the report states. Police were unable to lift any fingerprints from the box.
