List of local Good Friday services

Good Friday – also known as Holy Friday or Great Friday – is the day Christians commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary.

According to the Christian Gospels, Jesus would be buried and then rise from the dead on the third day, Easter Sunday.

Here are some Good Friday services scheduled for today at churches in York, Chester and Lancaster counties:

AME Zion

Chestnut Grove AME Zion Church, Chester: Good Friday service, “Seven Last Words of Jesus from the Cross,” 6 p.m.

Christian Home Baptist Church, Charity Road, Lowrys: Good Friday service, 7 p.m.

Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, Lake Wylie: Good Friday service, 7 p.m.

White Hill AME Zion Church, Old York Road, York: Holy Week service, 7 p.m.

Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church, Sharon: “Seven Last Words from the Cross,” 6:30 p.m.

ARP

Neely’s Creek ARP Church, Neely’s Road, Rock Hill: Good Friday Tenebrae service, 7:30 p.m.

Baptist

New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, Hampton Street, Rock Hill: Holy Week revival, 7 p.m.

Oakland Baptist Church, Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill: Good Friday service, noon Friday.

Zion Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, Pinckney Road, Chester: Holy Convocation service, 7 p.m.

Catholic

St. Anne Catholic Church, Bird Street, Rock Hill: Stations of the Cross, 3 p.m. with Mass at 7 p.m.

The Oratory, Charlotte Avenue, Rock Hill: Good Friday liturgy, noon, and Station of the Cross, 3 p.m.

Episcopal

Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, Caldwell Street, Rock Hill: Good Friday Eucharist, noon and 7 p.m.

Lutheran

Epiphany Lutheran Church, West Main Street, Rock Hill: Good Friday Service of Darkness, 7 p.m.

Methodist

Adnah United Methodist Church, Adnah Church Road, Rock Hill: Good Friday service, 7 p.m.

Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Heckle Boulevard, Rock Hill: Good Friday “The Hour of Jesus’ Death,” 2:30 p.m.

First United Methodist Church, Bethel Street, Clover: Good Friday Tenebrae service, 7 p.m.

Friendship United Methodist Church, Neely Store Road, Rock Hill: Good Friday service, 7 p.m.

Mount Prospect United Methodist Church, Mountain Gap Road, Richburg: Good Friday service, 7 p.m., with Ebenezer United Methodist Church at Ebenezer.

Nondenominational

First Born Church of the Apostolic Faith, Cauthen Street, Rock Hill: “Jesus is the Passover Lamb” services, 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Vision and Beyond Christian Ministry, India Hook Road, Rock Hill: Good Friday, noon prayer and fish fry. Free and open to the public.

Presbyterian

Clover Presbyterian Church, Kings Mountain Street, Clover: Good Friday Tenebrae service, 7 p.m. Nursery provided.
