Deadlines are fast approaching to sign up for Come-See-Me events.
3-on-3 Basketball Tournament registration is due Friday. The Upper Palmetto YMCA will host the tournament at 2 p.m. April 12 and 13. Open to ages 18 and up with four divisions: ages 18-25, 26-35, 36-45 and over 46. Players will call their own fouls. Entry forms are at 402 Charlotte Ave. YMCA or can be downloaded from www.comeseeme.org. Fee is $60 per team. For information, call 803-329-9622.
Four-person teams may compete in the 6th annual BBQ Competition for the title of “Best BBQ at Come-See-Me 2013!” Applications due Friday. BBQ entered into the competition will be sold at the Tailgate celevration at Winthrop Lake at 4 p.m. April 20. Proceeds benefit the Kiwanis Club of Rock Hill.
The entry fee is $250 per team and a $25 refundable clean-up fee. An optional ribs category also is available for a $25 fee. Teams provides their own ribs. The competition is limited to 30 teams. Dancers and music lovers are invited to the Come-See-Me Beach Bash and Shag Contest at City Hall Plaza at 5 p.m. April 12. Non-professional dancers may compete for cash prizes and must register at comeseeme.org. Registration is $25 payable via PayPal. Limited to 15 couples. Dancers will perform for two minutes to their own music, or a tune provided by the DJ. Contestants must report by 4:30 p.m.
The Come-See-Me Road Race & Fun Run starts at the YMCA at 402 Charlotte Ave. and winds through Rock Hill on April 13. There is also a 1-mile fun run. Registration for the 5K road race is $20 through April 9. Race-day registration is $25 and ends at 7:30 a.m. The fun run is free and begins at 8 a.m. followed by the road race at 8:30 a.m. Register at www.comeseeme.org. Come-See-Me Coloring Contest forms are available in The Herald, at the Main Street Children’s Museum or can be printed from comeseeme.org. The contest is open to all ages. Submit entries by April 9 at the Main Street Children’s Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Herald does not accept entries. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. April 18 at the reception and awards ceremony, Main Street Children’s Museum. Entries will only be returned at the reception and awards ceremony.
The first Come-See-Me Cornhole Throwdown will be at Winthrop Lake during the Come-See-Me Tailgate. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top four teams of two. Contestants must be 18 or older. Entry fee is $40 if registered by April 12; and $50 until April 18 or until full. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. The first round begins at 5 p.m. April 20.
