— Police arrested a Rock Hill man after they say he participated in a shootout and lied to police about his involvement, only for officers to later find a rifle in his attic Tuesday night.

Solomon Tyrell Wilson, 19, is charged with discharging a firearm within city limits, a Rock Hill Police report states.

Authorities responded to a Chandler Drive, off North Cherry Road, apartment after receiving calls about people shooting at each other, the report states. When they arrived, they found Wilson, who said he was shot at but did not fire back. He also said there wasn’t a gun inside the apartment.

Police spoke with a witness who said she saw Wilson stand at his front door with a rifle in hand as a car filled with men raced to the apartment, the report states. A man stepped out of the car, a white Crown Vic, and started shooting at Wilson, who shot back.

The woman said she heard about four or five shots before the car sped away, the report states. Police found several shell casings in the parking lot and later uncovered a rifle in the apartment’s attic beneath the insulation.
